After attending the Newhouse School at Syracuse University for film, Palmer’s directing career took off with hit music videos for Nelly, Lil Wayne, The Dandy Warhols, Mary J. Blige & Ja Rule, to name a few.
Since those early days, he has put his distinctive style and storytelling capabilities to use across music videos, commercials, documentary feature films and theatrical motion pictures.
His leap to feature films began with the satirical mockumentary Brother’s Justice, a collaboration with Dax Shepard. The film, a parody which followed Shepard’s decision to leave comedy in pursuit of his dream to become an international Martial Arts star, was released by Tribeca Films in April 2011. A year later, Palmer and Shepard teamed up again for the romantic action comedy Hit & Run, starring Shepard, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Kristin Chenoweth and Beau Bridges.
Since 2014, Palmer has traveled the world to direct a series of highly-praised documentary-style commercials for Microsoft. The films have been featured in the company’s Brand, Cloud and AI campaigns, and have taken Palmer to Myanmar, London, Rio, Uganda, Namibia, France, Australia, Kenya, and most recently, Denmark.
His most recent work includes continued campaigns for T-Mobile, Microsoft and Josh Cellars Wines. Recent still work includes New Amsterdam Vodka and High Noon Beverages.
His company, Palmer Productions is located in Los Angeles, California.
